Join Loop to help expand our backend services by developing new API endpoints. This contract role focuses on building out our Node.js and Express-based RESTful API to support upcoming features in our mobile and web applications. You will be responsible for writing clean, well-documented, and tested server-side code. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior developer to gain valuable experience in API design and development within a collaborative and fast-moving team.

As a Backend API Developer, you will be working on the core services that power the Loop platform. This project involves extending our existing API to provide new functionality for our front-end clients. You will be part of an agile team, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement new RESTful API endpoints using Node.js and Express.
• Write database queries and logic to interact with our primary database (e.g., PostgreSQL or MongoDB).
• Create unit and integration tests to ensure the reliability and correctness of your code.
• Collaborate with front-end developers to define API contracts and ensure seamless integration.
• Document your API endpoints clearly using tools like Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Participate in code reviews to provide and receive constructive feedback.
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs or performance issues in the API.

This role requires a solid understanding of backend development principles, including API design, data modeling, and authentication/authorization. You will have the opportunity to work with modern tools and practices, including containerization with Docker and CI/CD pipelines. We are looking for a developer who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow with us during this four-month project.

• 1-2 years of experience in backend development, preferably with Node.js.
• Familiarity with web frameworks like Express, Koa, or Fastify.
• Understanding of RESTful API design principles.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of Git and version control workflows.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
