Metasys is seeking a Backend Engineer for a long-term contract focused on maintaining and improving our existing suite of backend services. This role involves troubleshooting production issues, optimizing performance, fixing bugs, and implementing minor feature enhancements. You will be responsible for ensuring the stability and reliability of our core systems. As a Maintenance Engineer, you will be the guardian of our production backend services. Unlike a feature-focused role, your primary objective will be to ensure our systems run smoothly, efficiently, and reliably for our customers. This is a critical role that requires a strong diagnostic mindset and a proactive approach to system health.

Core Responsibilities:

• Monitor system performance and error logs to proactively identify and address issues.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve bugs reported by QA or customer support.
• Optimize database queries and application code to improve performance and reduce resource consumption.
• Refactor code to improve its maintainability and reduce technical debt.
• Implement small enhancements and configuration changes as requested by the product team.
• Improve our internal tooling and documentation to make the system easier to manage.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to critical production incidents.

This role is perfect for a developer who is skilled at reading and understanding existing code. You will gain deep knowledge of our system architecture and business logic. • 2-3 years of backend development experience, preferably in Python or Java.
