The Catholic University of America is seeking an experienced Database Administrator III to manage and optimize our enterprise database systems, ensuring reliable data access and security for academic and administrative operations.

As the Database Administrator III at The Catholic University of America, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity, performance, and availability of our database infrastructure supporting over 5,000 students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain database schemas to support academic applications, research databases, and administrative systems.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
• Develop and execute backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard sensitive data.
• Collaborate with IT teams, faculty, and administrators to assess data needs and implement scalable solutions.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and university policies, including regular audits and security enhancements.
• Integrate databases with emerging technologies such as cloud services and AI-driven analytics tools.
• Provide training and documentation to end-users and junior staff on database best practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's preferred.
• At least 5-7 years of experience in database administration, with proven expertise in SQL Server, Oracle, or similar RDBMS.

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as SQL, PowerShell, or Python for automation.
• Experience with cloud database services like Azure SQL or AWS RDS.
• Strong understanding of data security, compliance standards (e.g., FERPA for educational institutions), and disaster recovery planning.
