360 IT Professionals is seeking a junior developer for a short-term project to assist with a database migration. Your role will involve running migration scripts, validating data integrity post-migration, and documenting the process. You will work under the supervision of a senior database administrator to ensure a smooth and accurate transition of data from an old system to a new one. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with database operations.

This project is focused on the successful execution of a planned database migration. While the primary migration scripts have been developed, we need a dedicated individual to assist with the operational aspects of the migration process.

Your Responsibilities

• Execute Scripts: Under the guidance of a senior DBA, you will run pre-written SQL and shell scripts to export data from the source database and import it into the target database.
• Data Validation: Perform data validation by running SQL queries to compare record counts, check for null values, and sample data in both the source and target databases to ensure integrity.
• Logging and Reporting: Keep a detailed log of all actions taken, script outputs, and any errors encountered during the migration process.
• Troubleshooting: Assist in troubleshooting any minor issues that arise, such as permission errors or data type mismatches, and escalate more complex problems to the senior DBA.
• Documentation: Help update the documentation for the migration process, noting any changes or observations made during the execution.

This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate with a foundational understanding of databases and SQL. It provides a real-world look into the careful planning and execution required for critical database operations. You must be meticulous, detail-oriented, and a clear communicator.

• Basic understanding of relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
