Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join as Head of Emergency Planning. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the county's emergency preparedness, response, and recovery operations, ensuring that Suffolk remains resilient to a wide range of risks, from natural disasters to public health emergencies.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining the council's emergency plans, conducting risk assessments, and leading exercises and training programs to test and enhance capabilities. You will work closely with the Suffolk Resilience Forum, comprising emergency services, health authorities, and other partners, to foster a coordinated approach to crisis management.
As a senior leader, you will report directly to the Director of Communities and Environment, influencing policy at both local and regional levels. This position demands a proactive mindset, with a focus on innovation in areas such as climate resilience and cyber security threats.
