TEKsystems has an opening for a Junior Backend API Developer to work with our Node.js team. This is a fantastic remote opportunity for a new graduate to learn the ins and outs of API development. You will assist in designing, building, and maintaining our suite of RESTful APIs, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and efficient. You'll gain experience with Express.js, database integration, and cloud deployment in a highly collaborative and educational setting.

This role is focused on teaching you the art and science of creating high-quality APIs using Node.js. Throughout this year-long engagement, you will be mentored by seasoned professionals and contribute directly to our core products.

Your core responsibilities and learning objectives will include:

• API Development: Work with the team to build and extend our RESTful APIs using Node.js and the Express.js framework.
• Database Interaction: Learn to write efficient queries and interact with both relational (e.g., PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases.
• Authentication & Security: Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms to secure API endpoints. You'll learn about JWT, OAuth, and other security best practices.
• Testing: Write unit and integration tests for your API endpoints to ensure reliability and correctness.
• Documentation: Learn to write clear and comprehensive API documentation for other developers to use.
• Deployment: Gain exposure to the deployment process, including containerization with Docker and deployment to cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
