Motion Recruitment is hiring for a client seeking a junior backend engineer to work on their Node.js and TypeScript-based microservices platform. You will assist the team in developing new features, writing unit tests, and maintaining existing services. You will be working on a sophisticated microservices architecture built with Node.js, TypeScript, and deployed on AWS. As a member of the backend team, you will be responsible for:

• Feature Development: Collaborating with senior engineers to implement new features and API endpoints for the platform. You will write clean, well-structured, and efficient TypeScript code.
• Testing: Writing comprehensive unit and integration tests using frameworks like Jest or Mocha to ensure the quality and reliability of our services.
• Maintenance: Assisting in troubleshooting and debugging issues in our production and staging environments. You will learn how to diagnose problems and deploy effective fixes.
• Collaboration: Participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and code reviews. You will work closely with other developers, QA engineers, and product managers to deliver high-quality software.
• Learning: Continuously improving your skills in backend development, including database design, API security, and cloud infrastructure.

We are looking for a candidate with a foundational understanding of backend concepts and a strong desire to learn and grow. You should have some experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and an interest in building scalable, server-side applications.

• At least 1 year of software development experience, with some exposure to backend development.
• Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript.
• Basic understanding of Node.js and REST APIs.
• Familiarity with Git for version control.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
