U-Haul is seeking a seasoned Senior Database Administrator to oversee and enhance our robust database infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance for our extensive moving and storage operations. As a Senior Database Administrator at U-Haul, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing the databases that power our industry-leading moving, storage, and logistics services. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Manager, you will lead efforts to ensure data reliability, security, and efficiency in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing database architectures that scale with our business growth, performing regular performance audits and optimizations, and developing disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime. You will collaborate with developers, analysts, and operations teams to integrate database solutions with our proprietary applications and third-party systems.

In addition, you will mentor junior administrators, enforce compliance with data governance policies, and stay ahead of emerging technologies to recommend innovative improvements. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced certifications like Oracle Certified Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in database administration, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role managing large-scale relational databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
• Proficiency in database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and high-availability solutions including clustering and replication.
• Strong knowledge of cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) and experience with data security best practices, including encryption and access controls.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues under pressure and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with scripting languages like SQL, PowerShell, or Python for automation tasks.
