Seeking a Frontend Developer for a 6-month contract focused on web accessibility. You will audit our application against WCAG 2.1 AA standards and remediate issues in our React codebase. A strong passion for and knowledge of web accessibility is required for this role.

We are looking for a Frontend Developer for a 6-month contract to help us improve the accessibility of our web application. Our goal is to ensure our platform is usable by people with a wide range of disabilities, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards. Your role will be to audit our existing application, identify accessibility issues, and implement the necessary fixes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct accessibility audits using both automated tools and manual testing (e.g., screen readers).
• Remediate accessibility issues in our React codebase, including fixing color contrast, adding ARIA attributes, and ensuring keyboard navigability.
• Collaborate with designers to ensure new designs are accessible from the start.
• Help educate the rest of the development team on accessibility best practices.
• Write and maintain documentation related to our accessibility standards.

This is a meaningful project for a developer who is passionate about building an inclusive web. While no specific certification is required, you must have a strong understanding of web accessibility principles and techniques. Experience with assistive technologies is a major plus.

• 2+ years of frontend development experience.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• In-depth understanding of web accessibility (WCAG) and ARIA.
• Experience with auditing and remediating accessibility issues.
• Familiarity with screen readers (e.g., NVDA, VoiceOver) is a plus.
• Experience with React is preferred.
